A Kid Again exists to foster hope, happiness and healing for families raising kids with life-threatening illnesses. Families thrust into the situation of having to care for a child with a life-threatening illness are unprepared and usually unequipped to deal with what follows, often feeling they have lost their hold on the situation and their own lives. A Kid Again helps to restore a sense of normalcy for their child and themselves. A Kid Again strives to make life for families caring for a child with a life-threatening illness more like “life” again by helping them gain back moments of solace and a sense of control over their circumstances. We strive to give these kids an opportunity to have fun and feel like they should - the kid they are meant to be each day. Our adventures are designed for kids to have something to look forward to, to have fun with friends and give their sisters, brothers and parents some respite as well. Siblings are often left on the sideline due to the stress and necessary attention/time demands of the ill child. They also give our families a time to connect and network with each other. They empathize and understand what one another is facing. They connect and become resources to one another as well. We take a family-centric approach. A Kid Again is specifically designed to involve the entire family (not just the child who is ill) to improve the well-being of everyone affected by the situation. This approach helps protect and strengthen the children’s primary support network and personal resolve during the most difficult period of their lives. Our program is ongoing and natural. Unlike other “wish” organizations, A Kid Again works to create a communal and interactive environment. Our program establishes ongoing, nurturing experiences that complement but do not overtake their day-to-day living. We strive for a broader impact. A Kid Again strives to go beyond activities, providing comprehensive, practical support to help families cope with the extended effects of life-threatening illnesses. Families become more prepared to more effectively face the uncertainty of their situation with greater confidence and self-esteem. Microsoft partners with Benevity to facilitate its donations. Your points redemption activity will be deducted from your account immediately. Within six weeks after the end of the month in which you redeem your points, Microsoft will make a cash donation based on your redemption to a donor-advised fund at the Benevity UK Online Giving Foundation (OGF), with a recommendation that they make a corresponding grant to your selected nonprofit organization. OGF will take exclusive legal control of Microsoft's donation on your behalf. Donation redemptions are non-refundable. If your chosen nonprofit is not able to receive the donation (for example, if it no longer meets the participation criteria), or if the donation is otherwise undeliverable, the cash donation will be redirected to a nonprofit of Microsoft's choosing. Non-profits are not endorsed by Microsoft.
